On the origins of the name "343 Guilty Spark".

Like I said don't quote me on it, and unfortunately whenever I serach for it now on the web I just get halo references of no use in this field.
Yeah, the term "guilty spark" has been thoroughly co-opted by our community here. :-) Anyone have any information on this term with regards to computer AI?
